Overseers Approve Water Rate Increase
At its October 12 monthly meeting, the Board of Overseers ratified a modest 1.5% increase in the water rate schedule, which will be filed with the Maine Public Utilities Commission, effective November 15, 2025.
The rate increase, and how it will be applied to Bayside water usage, is explained here.
Overseers to Meet on Oct 12th
The Board of Overseers will meet in a regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Sunday, October 12th at 9AM. The meeting will be held in Community Hall (downstairs) and via Zoom. The public is invited to attend.

Seasonal Float Removal
To prepare for seasonal float removals, all boats and dinghies must be removed from the boat float and out floats by the end of the day on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Thank you for complying with this request as soon as possible.
New Work Announced to Locate Persistent Water Leak
The village water leak that was announced in recent communications still persists. Given that, the NVC Water Department will work to isolate village water mains beginning Monday, August 18th. This work will be conducted throughout the water distribution system to see if the water leak can be traced. This work may disrupt water flow in your home on Monday, 8/18.
Naturally, the Water Department apologizes for any inconvenience, but this is a vital process to find the ongoing water leak.
We thank you for your understanding while we work on this issue.
William Paige, Water Distribution Operator
NVC Water Leaks: Be on the Lookout
The NVC water system is experiencing an unexplained increase in both daytime and nighttime water usage that exceeds even our normal peak seasonal usage.
The unusually high water usage suggests a leak or leaks somewhere in our system.
Please be alert for possible water leaks and report any concerning water issues to the Village Office at 207-338-0751.
New Information for Attending NVC Meetings via Zoom
The Board of Overseers and various NVC committees have experienced disturbing incidents where meetings were disrupted by unauthorized attendees who joined the meetings via Zoom. From what we know, the situation is caused when a Zoom link to a public meeting is distributed in the meeting announcement. In an effort to deal with this issue, we are implementing a temporary solution for running Zoom meetings.
If you would like to attend any Overseers or committee meetings, please contact the Village Office to get on a master list of verified attendees. You will need to provide your name, Bayside street address, and email address. If your property is not in your name, please provide the property owner’s name. Once all information is verified, you will be added to a meetings master list and will receive Zoom links distributed to that list.
Please know that we make every effort to publicize our board and committee meetings, and all meetings are open to the public. Most meetings are held in Community Hall and the public is always welcome to attend those in person.
Hot off the Press: 2025 Annual Report
The NVC’s 2025 Annual Report is available now. Please pick up a copy at the Village Office or from the Blair Agency. You can also download a digital copy of the full report here.
Note: Copies of the printed version of the report are limited to one copy per household.
The Annual Meeting of the Northport Village Corporation will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at 6PM. The meeting will be held on the Ruggles Park basketball court, weather permitting. If it’s raining that evening, the meeting will be held in Community Hall (upstairs).
Safety Bulletin: Bike Safety & Parking
The latest Safety Bulletin is out, covering bike safety and reminders of where to park in the village and where parking is banned.
