The following reminder is to all watercraft owners who use the Bayside waterfront.
Please remember to complete a Small Watercraft Registration Form for any small watercraft that you plan to store on village property — including dinghies, kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, etc.
The 2023 registration application is available here. The Bayside waterfront ordinance is available for your review here.
Watercraft registration is mandatory and the fees are as follows:
- $40 for Dinghies (as defined in Waterfront Ordinance)
- $20 for other Small Watercraft
- $5 additional fee for any applicant that is not a Village or Town of Northport resident
Completed forms may by returned to the Village office with a check (no cash please). In return, boaters will receive a sticker to be affixed to their small watercraft.
Important: Size Limits Information: Please note the size limits associated with dinghies tied overnight to Village boat floats. Dinghies may not exceed 10′ in length and 5.5′ in width. As in past years, dinghies tied overnight to the wharf boat float may not have an outboard motor greater than 9.9 hp, while those with motors up to 25 hp may tie up on the out-float.
Please make a best effort to move your dinghy to the outer float if you will not use it for more than 48 hours.
Due to inclement weather anticipated over the next several weeks, please make sure to bail out your dinghy as the extra weight can put undue stress on the boat float and dock.
The goal of the Waterfront Committee is to provide access to all who want to use and store watercraft in the Village in a safe and effective manner. We continue to hope that, through an effective use of our waterfront assets, we can maintain the infrastructure currently available in the Village, and possibly eliminate the need for capital improvements to address the increased demand.
Thank you, NVC Waterfront Committee
