The Northport Village Corporation and the town of Northport are in the process of applying for grant funding from the state through its Community Resilience Partnership program.
This community workshop is a vital part of this process and with your engagement, you will help us prioritize action areas to increase our resilience to natural disasters and weather-driven events such as rainstorms, coastal flooding, coastal erosion, and exposure to extreme heat and cold.
We would also like to elicit ideas about how we can increase energy efficiency and lower energy costs, for the village, town, and its residents.
The first grant application from this program will be for the engineering and design costs for shoreline stabilization of Auditorium Park and Bayview Beach. It might also include some places along Shore Road.
We envision this as the first part of our ongoing dialogue with you, the village and town residents, in helping us prioritize the steps needed to build community resilience to weather-driven events, and natural disasters, and preserve our shoreline, village, and town for generations to come.
There are other funding opportunities both at a state and federal level, and we will do our best to take advantage of these, so your participation in this workshop is an important part of this process. Please make time to come and join us for this discussion.
